I did find that everyone is attracted to Curtis plot somewhat unrealistic, especially considering the fact that he did seem socially awkward.Generates a list of all games that match the criteria settings. But for some reason people of Phantasmagoria II seemed to have very limited social networks. Nevertheless, my dislike towards the main character did not prevent me from enjoying the game (although it was campy and not as good as many other Sierra games).Īnd if there are no suitable partners in the same office then people look their partners from elsewhere. Only thing I did enjoy about the character was getting him killed in various ways. I did not enjoy his dialogue or his personality. Curtis, however, rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning. In case of Phantasmagoria, I liked Adrienne, although I agree with you that she didn't always act in the smartest way (which seems to be very common thing in horror stories). Games of Gabriel Knight trilogy are one of my favourite Sierra games, because I like both Gabriel and Grace, and the settings of the games are great. Gabriel was kind of jerk (although I enjoyed the way how he teased Mosley), but he had some redeeming qualities (at least he was not that much of a jerk to his grandma). I guess that we have to just agree to disagree. That leaves Curtis as the only man who's available. And Paul is both the boss and an evil man so there's 2 reasons no one would want to be with Paul. Tom is the boss, and having a relationship with the boss is frowned upon in most places. Trevor is gay, so the women can't have him and he has no interest in them. I think everybody wanted to have sex with Curtis because even if you don't agree that he's the most handsome guy in the office, he's the only man in the office they can have. I love GK1 but certainly not because of any charisma Gabriel might have. Actually, the Gabriel Knight of the first game is one of the first 2 characters that came to mind when you said "most uncharismatic adventure game hero ever," with the other being the Police Quest 4 protagonist. In the first game he's anything but charismatic IMO. They agreed that their relationship was an open one, anyway.Ĭbingham: Gabriel Knight=charismatic? Well, in the 2nd game he is. People bash Curtis for cheating on Jocilyn, but you need to understand who Curtis is to understand why he's completely incapable of feeling close to Jocilyn (or anyone else). Curtis is a smart person with a very tragic history. Adrienne is pretty and she's nice, but there are times when she seems dumber than Roger Wilco, and at least the latter was supposed to be dumb. Even though I prefer P1 over P2, I like Curtis better than Adrienne. I actually like him better than Adrienne. There's a reason he is loved by both women and the gay man in the office. I actually think Curtis is very charismatic. The only thing I disagree with is Curtis being the most uncharismatic adventure game hero ever. Phantasmagoria 1 is actually a nice adventure game, although the puzzles aren't as difficult as in earlier Sierra adventures. ![]() Themes and atmospheres of the stories have nothing in common. Actually only thing the two games share is the name (and one reference in Phantasmagoria 2 that the games happen in the same universe). Haunted mansion of Phantasmagoria 1 is much more interesting place than office building and SM club of Phantasmagoria 2. ![]() It has interesting story full of mystery, the protagonist is actually likeable and the setting is cool. ![]() Phantasmagoria 1 is in every way a better game. But nevertheless it's not as bad as most people think it is, it certainly has some camp value. Also the game sometimes feels more like a cheap softcore porn than horror adventure. OlausPetrus: Phantasmagoria 2's most wonderful achievement is that it introduces to us most uncharismatic adventure game hero ever.
